Average Vacation Rental Cleaning Costs in Kentucky: Q4 2021

Kentucky, also known as the “Bluegrass State,” is a hub for horse racing, grand nature excursions, and much more. With so many great features, it has become a popular tourist destination, with tourism now being a dominant industry in the state. Travel to Kentucky has taken a hit through the pandemic, and although it has bounced back intermittently, it is still falling short of pre-pandemic levels.

In this article, we will go more in-depth on the cleaning costs for Kentucky in Q4 of 2021.

To help to understand the data, we prepared a graphic illustrating the Q4 cleaning costs as well as the historical averages. This data has been collected from thousands of completed Airbnb cleaning projects on the Turno Marketplace.

Infographic Breakdown

There are two pieces to the infographic:

  • Cleaning cost averages for 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom rentals
  • Historical average of cost averages from Q4 2020 to Q4 2021

Cleaning Cost Average

Based on this data, we found the following averages for cleaning costs in Kentucky:

  • 1-bedroom: $38.52 (up 2.39% from Q4 2020)
  • 2-bedroom: $55.08 (up 2.21% from Q4 2020)

Overall, during the past year, we have seen a substantial decrease in cleaning costs for 3-bedroom properties, while both 1- and 2-bedroom properties have seen a small increase from Q4 of 2020.

Historical Average

Throughout the year, 1- and 2-bedroom property costs fluctuated while 3-bedroom rentals saw a strong downwards trend. The historical average graph from Q4 of 2020 to Q4 of 2021 helps us understand the trends of the market.

1-bedroom rentals are represented by the dotted yellow line and have shown only small fluctuations increasing and decreasing before ending with an increase year-over-year.

2-bedroom rentals are shown by the dotted dark blue line and were on a downward trend for Q4 and Q1 before reversing in Q2 to also end in an increasing year-over-year change.

Lastly, 3-bedroom rentals are depicted by the dotted light blue line and have been on a strong downward trend throughout the year, experiencing only a small uptick in Q4 before ending overall down in the year-over-year change.

Overall, smaller rentals are seeing heightened average cleaning costs, while some larger rentals are experiencing a hit in price. As a cleaning company, focusing energies away from cleaning larger rentals may be a beneficial tactic if the trends that we’ve seen over this past year continue. As average pricing in your area changes, we’ve compiled tips to help you keep your prices competitive and effective for finding business.
